Where Hope Meets Inspiration

Strategies are a key part of learning to live with an ABI.
Whether the issues are memory or emotions, strategies are very important.
I ask for anyone to share their strategies to help others learn and flourish.

1.Our first strategy come from John H a long time brain injury survivor.

If you have a major decision to make try this acronym. If any of the below is present then you may not make the best decision for the time.

H - is for hungry

A - is for angry

L - is for lonely

T - is for tired

So if these exist John suggests you H.A.L.T. and re-think your decision.

This strategy is also a strategy the folks at Alcohol Anonymous use according to Doug M.

2. Geoff W. shares a strategy to help any of us that have memory issues.
If you have a bank of light switches together and each controls a different light,
wire the switches to match the order of the lighting. For example, wire the first switch
to work the light closest to the switches and then the second switch to the next closest light and so on.
If you are not comfortable with electricity please get help from someone who is.

3. Here is one of my personal strategies.
If you have short term memories issues as I do then always put your keys in the same spot all the time.
Whether you are at home or work put the keys in an easy spot and continue to put your keys there without fail. Why put pressure on yourself make it easy for you to be successful.
